ARLINGTON, VA (February 5, 2020) – FLARE, an amenity electric shuttle service, will provide free rides between the Navy Yard and the Wharf in Washington, DC, on two weekends in February.
“We welcome the community to try out our electric shuttles in February. FLARE’s goal is to provide DC area residents with access to sustainable and affordable transportation. We invite DC area residents to take a ride and enjoy the amenities offered at the Wharf and in the Navy Yard,” said Andres Delgado, CEO of FLARE, whose goal is to better connect neighborhoods, making them more vibrant and enjoyable.
FLARE will operate its shuttles on February 15 between 11am-2pm and 5-8pm; February 16 between 11am-2pm; February 22 between 11am-2pm and 5-8pm; and February 23 from 11am-2pm. Pickup/dropoff points are at the Yards (4th Street and Tingey Street, SE), and the Wharf (7th Street and M Street, SW). FLARE shuttles seat five passengers and have storage space.
“The service aspect of FLARE is to serve as an amenity transportation for local residents, developers, property managers, and businesses. We’ve tested our model in south Arlington where we’ve shuttled residents to and from the restaurants, shops, and the grocery store, and it’s been a success. The technology aspect of our business is to help the adaption of new technologies with potential to make our roads safer, less congested and efficient,” Delgado said.
“People need ways to get around town in ways that aren’t always serviced by a bus route or one of the inequitable modes of transportation such as bikes or scooters. Electric shuttle routes are a real solution for communities to experience transformation and growth,” Delgado added.
